Th 2008 Wooden Boat Festival is scheduled for Saturday/Sunday, October 18-19. It is the primary source of funding for the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. More than 30,000 visitors are expected to attend. Come and enjoy the wooden boats, food, music and crafts while celebrating local culture and heritage--and the balmy River breezes on a fine October day! Because of its location on the Tchefuncte (pronounced "che-funk-tuh") River, Madisonville's history has been shaped by water and has eight sites on the National Historic Register.
